- Mac is a charter member of the Carolinas
Catfish Club and has served as president of the club for two
terms.
- Mac has been
fishing on Lake Norman since 1981.
- In 1986, he bought a house on the lake and he and his wife were
weekend dwellers until 2000.
- In 2000, Mac and his wife moved to their Lake Norman home, permanently.
- Mac served the Lake Norman community by holding the
former position of a Commissioner on the Lake Norman Marine Commission.

- Mac ranked 10th in the Nation in 2005 as a Catfisherman through
performance in Cabela's King Kat Classic.
- In 2007, Mac placed in the Top Ten twice in the Lake Norman Striper
Swipers tournament.
- Mac finished in the Top Five in the only two NCCATS tournaments
held on Lake Norman in 2007.
- Over the past ten years, Mac has consistently placed in the Top
Ten NFA Striper tournaments and other catfish and striper tournaments
in the region.
